Early interventions occur at or before preschool age, as early as 2 or 3 years of age. In this period, a young child's brain is still forming giving treatments a better chance of being effective in the longer term. Early interventions not only give children the best start possible, but also the best chance of developing to their full potential. Early intervention also helps to prevent problem behaviors from worsening and an increase in skill gaps.

The goal of school-based ABA therapy is to support students in achieving success both academically and socially while improving their overall quality of life. BCBAs and RBTs work closely with teachers and other school staff to develop individualized treatment plans that focus in specific behavioral issues or deficits. 

ABA social skills programs will break down specific complex social skills (such as: taking turns, conversation, sharing, joining a group, working with others towards a common goal, understanding facial expressions, tone of voice, etc.) into smaller components and then teach those components systematically.

ABA parent training is an important part of any ABA program. It involves teaching parents how to implement  the tactics utilized in a clinical setting in other environments, such as the home or the community. It improve functioning in the natural environment. Most insurance companies require that you include parent training goals in your treatment plan.
